Wow - I’m officially in bakery business! I have thought for many years how fun it would be to own my own bakery. But I was worried because I love to cook so much that I never wanted it to become a chore. I was thrilled when I found out that Texas has a Cottage Food Law. This gives me everything I wanted: the ability to create delicious foods for people without worrying about keeping the doors open. Under this law I’m able to sell baked goods out of my home kitchen - the place I feel most comfortable! I’m looking forward to these new challenges and skills I will learn, and I hope I’m able to teach some of you about food along the way.

It’s a busy weekend, but incredibly special. Saturday, May 7th is Nevermore’s sixth birthday. He has brought so much to my life that I cannot imagine how I lived so long without him.

Sunday, May 8th is Mother’s Day. My mother taught me how to cook. I remember being a teenager stumbling around her kitchen trying to comprehend recipes. She was very patient with me, teaching me recipe vocabulary, and taking me to the grocery stores to learn ingredients.

Without Nevermore and my mom, Raven’s Regale would not exist. And I can think of no better time to launch this bakery than this weekend. In honor of Nevermore and Norma, this is for you! xo
